Airline regulations on checking windsurfing equipment lists a maximum size per package of 115 inches (length + width + height).
There is hardly a sailboard in existence (other than the smallest wave board) that fits within these dimensions.
Is that restruction just ignored in practice ? What are the chances of being denied allowance ? I have traveled several times with windsurfing gear and had trouble once with an overweight bag (requirted splitting stuff in 2 bags), but not with the dimension limit (which I was unaware of).
Anyone encounterd a problem with this ?
Obviously people do travel with windurfing gear...
A call to the airline customer service proved totally useless...
