The real truth about Maui windsurfing conditions....
After the hurricane going by left a few days windless (light variables), today at lower Kanaha near the lifeguard tower, it blew so hard that big guys were rigging down from 5 and 6 meter sails to 4.2s and 4.7s. I'd guess it was 20 or 25 knots or stronger with larger gusts. The ladies had enough with 3.5s, 3.7s and the occasional 4.2. Now there weren't any waves to speak of, but for several days the south shore has had 4 to 6 foot (Hawaiian style measurement) which translates to 8 to 12 foot wave faces. Totally exciting. I met people from Germany, Chicago and New Zealand today. Bitchin'..... Come and get some of this. Hi-Tech and Kanaha Kai shops are less than a quarter of a mile away and give you a no-wind surfboard clause. Snorkle the south shore near Big Beach or get nekked at world famous Little Beach. If you need a guide email me.
