Once we learned more about the shot, this magazine standard became way more interesting and worthy of it's expense and weighting.

The Hot Shot section is always awesome, but I like it even more with the information listed about the equip, wind speed, etc. I have a hard time believing some of the wind speeds and gear sizes as it just doesn't seem realistic for this real world, east coast sailor!

Personally, I would like to see less Maui shots and more of the east and west coast shots of regular guys and gals. No hisses or boos from the Maui crowd please! :) I know Maui is the mecca. I just like the " my backyard " type of feel, as Maui always get all the press. Wish I could be a part of it, but that is not an option for me!

- I agree with BrianM. Having some detail from the photographer or the rider about what's going on, where it was taken, etc is good. Look at how Surfline does their little photojournalism articles on their website for a good example of how to do it. I agree also that Maui gets too much exposure. How about an all South America hotshots section, or all DR.

The nasty wave shot was interesting. Watching flat water with a 10 meter sail doesn't appeal to me much. More women, kids and unusual stuff would be cool. Just seeing daredevil wave antics has been overdone.

Josh,

You can bet I'm biased... I want to see more of the flatwater guy, that's me, from the front. Seriously, it's good to have a balance of photos - action photos from some fantasy Shangri La place that most of mortals will rarely, if ever, get to travel to; and also photos from 'Middle America' and your more typical boardhead.

PS -- One of the posters in this thread got it wrong -- I was sailing with a 11.6, not a 10.0 [not that the non-racing gearhead would care].

The photo of Fabrice is spectacular, the wave behind is beautiful, and it has lots of gnarly appeal. The other shot is bitchen for different reasons: It shows something we can all do, it's an interesting angle, it feels like you're sailing up behind your buddy at the lake, sort of a homey, "Hey that looks just like Bob last week" feel to it.
I like them both. I like the fact that Wind Surfing is showing all aspects of the sport, not just the gnarly stuff. Keep up the good work, boys!

Hey, it's not who you want to see or where you want to see it, but we can still give you a Windsurfer One Design pic.

Still a popular class down here in Australia; we had 9 kids out at the local club yesterday, and the adult fleet is bigger. This year's nationals will be the first time any windsurfer class of any type, anywhere, will achieve 30 years of nationals.
