Maui is Going Off!

Maui is being rocked this week by strong Kona winds, with average wind speeds in Kihei and at the airport clocking in at 40mph and gusting to 50. Hookipa Lanes was firing yesterday as Kevin Pritchard, Josh Stone and Baptiste Gossein put on a show in howling winds and 20 foot + waves. Check out the video action:

I just checked that video action a couple of hours ago.

That is ... absolutely insane. I can't believe how long that one ride is - - is it Levi? On the NP sail... just nuts.

That's Baptiste Gossein on the NP sail. Kevin Pritchard on the Maui Sails sail and Josh Stone on the blue sail.

Word is that yesterday was a bit better waves and less wind. I just heard that Kevin Pritchard and Jason Polakow are headed down to to sail it today. Waves are still big and the wind is honking, prolly as windy as it was the other day, if not more.
